【环球华语2023年2月8日】The Toronto Chinese Professor Association (TCPA) successfully held a cheerful Lunar New Year celebration dinner party at Dim Sum King Restaurant on January 28, 2023. The TCPA members and their families gathered at six tables, and a few TCPA gusts attended the event as well.
The event started with the welcome remarks delivered by Professor Jim Hu of University of Toronto, the TCPA President. Professor Hu provided information about TCPA history and mission, and thanked all the past and current executive committee members for their contributions to the Association. The TCPA was established six years ago through enormous efforts made a small group of Chinese professors across different disciplines led by Professor Ren-Ke Li of University of Toronto. The TCPA was registered in Ontario as a non-profit organization with a mission to improve the capacity of the members to contribute to the community and society. The TCPA is governed by the TCPA bylaw.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the past three years, the TCPA significantly reduced its activities as well as in person meetings. In addition to organizing a few online Zoom meetings with respect to COVID-19 pandemic for all the members, the executive committee held several meetings and discussed issues concerning TCPA activities and especially renewal of the executive committee membership. As a result of communicating with all the members via emails, 4 committee members, Professors Zhirui Wang (Toronto), Hong-Shuo Sun (Toronto), Shudong Yu (Toronto Metropolitan), and Jim Hu (Toronto), decided to step down from the executive committee while Professors Qiang Zha (York), Lidan You (Toronto), Ren-Ke Li, Melanie Cao (York), Jinjun Shan (York), Guangjun Liu (Toronto Metropolitan) and Baohua Xin (Toronto) will remain to serve on the new executive committee. We encouraged all the members to recommend colleagues as candidates to serve on the executive committee. There are now two candidates named for the service, Professor Yunxiang Gao (Toronto Metropolitan, nominated by Professor Guangjun Liu) and Yanqin Wu (Toronto, nominated by Professor Jim Hu). Due to the fact that we did not have more candidates, and both Professors Gao and Wu have been actively contributing to the TCPA, the executive committee claimed Professors Gao and Wu as members on the current executive committee. In addition, the executive committee approved appointing Professor Qiang Zha as the next President and Professor Lidan You as the Vice President. The committee also approved retaining Professor Baohua Xin as the Treasurer to maintain the account of the TCPA. More details about how the next executive committee operates will be deliberated by the new executive committee soon.
All attendees enjoyed the happy moment at the Lunar New Year gathering. All children received a gift and each table won two Chinese Calendars from a game of prize draw. Our gust, Mr. Ricky Wang, from China Eastern Airlines expressed continuing support to TCPA members, and our medium friend, Mr. Ruijun Wang provided free photograph services. Professor Qiang Zha and Professor Lidan You took care of the gust registration and membership registration, respectively.

TCPA 2023新年庆典
多伦多华人教授协会(TCPA)于2023年1月28日在Dim Sum King餐厅成功举办了一场欢快的农历新年庆祝晚宴。TCPA会员和他们的家人聚集在6张桌子上，还有一些TCPA的嘉宾参加了这次活动。
活动由加拿大多伦多大学的胡教授致欢迎辞开始。胡教授介绍了TCPA的历史和使命，并感谢历任执委会成员对协会的贡献。TCPA是由多伦多大学李仁科教授带领的一群不同学科的中国教授共同努力，在六年前成立的。TCPA是在安大略省注册的非营利组织，其使命是提高成员为社区和社会做出贡献的能力。TCPA由TCPA章程管理。
过去三年，由于2019冠状病毒病(COVID-19)大流行，TCPA大幅减少了活动和面对面会议。除了为所有成员组织了几次关于COVID-19大流行的Zoom在线会议外，执行委员会还举行了几次会议，讨论了有关TCPA活动的问题，特别是执行委员会成员的续会。经过与全体委员的邮件沟通，
王执锐教授(多伦多)、孙宏硕教授(多伦多)、于树栋教授(多伦多)、胡建祥教授(多伦多)决定退出执行委员会，而查强教授(约克)、游莉丹教授(多伦多)、李仁科教授、操敏教授(约克)、陕晋军教授(约克)、刘光军教授(多伦多)和辛宝华教授(多伦多)将继续担任新的执行委员会成员。我们鼓励所有成员推荐同事作为执行委员会的候选人。目前有两位候选人，高云翔教授(多伦多大都会大学，由刘光军教授提名)和吴延庆教授(多伦多大学，由胡建祥教授提名)。由于我们没有更多的候选人，而且高教授和吴教授一直在积极地为TCPA做出贡献，执行委员会宣布高教授和吴教授为现任执行委员会成员。此外，执行委员会还批准任命查强教授为下届主席，游莉丹教授为副主席。委员会亦通过聘请辛宝华教授为财务主任，以维持学院的帐目。有关下一届执行委员会如何运作的更多细节将很快由新一届执行委员会审议。
所有的参加者都享受了春节聚会的快乐时刻。所有的孩子都得到了一份礼物，每个桌子在抽奖游戏中赢得了两本中国日历。我们的嘉宾，来自中国东方航空的Ricky Wang先生表示对TCPA会员的持续支持，我们的媒体朋友，Ruijun Wang先生提供了免费的摄影服务。查强教授和游莉丹教授分别负责学员注册和会员注册。
